Fans of
Cold Case still remember the crime drama and recognize the actors who were featured in the series. The show's focus on the past would have been a bonus in a reboot, as there are several ways the plot could go. A
Cold Case revival wouldn't have only been interesting because of a new cast, but
it would have also shown how new technology can now be used to solve old cases. A reboot would also provide a chance for audiences to see their beloved characters once again, years after
Cold Case's conclusion.
The Flashback Potential Of The Revival Makes The Scrapped Project More Disappointing
In April 2024, when CBS announced that
Cold Case was getting a reboot, it was to the excitement of people who enjoyed
the crime drama. Unfortunately,
the Cold Case revival didn't happen, as it was canceled during the early stages because Warner Bros. TV and CBS couldn't come to an agreement. According to reports, the
Cold Case reboot would have featured a new cast that was located in the southwest as opposed to Philadelphia, where the original series is set.
The premise of the reboot would have been the same as the 2003 TV show, focusing on detectives solving old but not forgotten crimes.
Cold Case's biggest draw is how it flashes back to the past and portrays how a crime was committed and why it wasn't solved. The way that Detective Rush and Pino peel back the layers is incredible to watch, making it even more disappointing that we won't get to see something like that again.
